Snapshot #13 : Time Flies & The Cousins!

{So many posts in progress... and not enough energy to finish them... }

Outside my window: It's dark. Because it's late. But I wanted to get something posted. Anything. I'm trying so hard to finish a big post on Spencer and where he is at with social and academic development... as well as a reflective post on the past year-ish with Milo. Both of them are hard and not-so-light. Which makes me kind of stumble. My thought is that maybe if I post a few lighter posts to get my "blogger mojo" back... I'll be able to wrap those up?

I am thinking:  About my kids... and their various struggles (see above answer). I'm also thinking about the very busy week we have coming up. And, I'm also thinking I would really love a glass of wine right about now.

I am thankful for: Alone time with Spencer to go see a movie (Home!) and have lunch, seeing my boys spend some quality time with their cousins recently, and a growing confidence in some decisions we've made for our family for the summer and next year. It's been a hard few months on several levels (including being literally up to our eyeballs in snow) and I feel like we might just be getting our footing here.

I am wondering: If I'll ever get another full night of sleep again? How many fat quarters in my stash is too many? What to do on Spring Break with the kiddos?  Why did I let Spencer have a mocha today? Why do some weeks fly by while others seem to drag on forever? When is spring going to get here?

Last 3 purchases: A new belt, fabric, and ... I don't know. I've been pretty busy around here helping the Easter Bunny get ready for his big day ;-) So that has taken a toll on time and cash.

Dinner plans:  Uhm, it was pre-packaged... let's just leave it at that.

Future plans I'm looking forward to: There's so much! We have April Fools Day this week, which I always adore... Then another day off on Friday... and Easter on Sunday. I'm both excited and exhausted just thinking about it!

Kid funnies:
Milo: Hasn't really been funny at all this past week or so. In fact, he's been rather infuriating for a good portion of it. But it's Easter and that means jelly beans as treats. (Last Easter he had only been home a little while, but I clearly remember him discovering the joy of jelly beans. To the point where every egg he found, he opened... then proceeded to eat if it's contents were jelly beans.)

Or, as he calls them... "belly beans"

Spencer: Has been hysterical recently. He says so many funny things that I can't even record them anymore. Just this morning he had a whole handful, with two favorites:

1. Overheard while using voice search on You*Tube: "Jesus getting nailed to the cross.... For kids." (Some of you may remember several months ago where he drew Jesus on the cross in great detail. At a birthday party. Complete with nails and blood. This must be a thing.)

2. Don't look at those Milo! They are my privates! Mmmmoooommm!!! Milo is looking at my pimples!!!!" {Pimples = nipples}

I am reading:  "Ready Player One" by Earnest Cline. I just recently read "A Girl Named Digit" and "Double Digit" by Annabel Monaghan. (The plots are way out there, but it's fast and fun... while still delving into some deeper issues.) I'm anxiously awaiting the release of "Sea of Stars" on Tuesday. In other words... I'm reading a lot of YA.

In the kitchen: Half of my living room because our carpets are being cleaned this week, and somewhere in there, under the piles of paper and stuff... is my kitchen island. I just know it! Just ignore the Easter candy hidden in the upper cabinets, ok?

Watching:  I've been catching up on my hulu queue. That means lots of Scandal, Hart of Dixie (it's over?!), and Grey's. Filling in the void (ha!) with Hawaii Five-O. (Which actually brings up another funny by Spencer. When he turned on the TV one day, H5O was "paused" on the screen. He asked if D. D. Kim was Korean. When I told him he was, he responded with "Now that's a good looking Korean!" I laughed for a long time.)

On my frequent playlist: I'm currently obsessed with "Honey, I'm Good" by Andy Grammer and "Bills" by Lunchmoney Lewis. And... like the rest of the country, I'm loving "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. Have you ever noticed that you can always tell who is listening to the same radio station as you in their cars when this song comes on the radio? I've passed so many upcoming cars with drivers singing and grooving to it.

Snacking on:  Too. Much. Easter. Candy.

Rest-of-the-day-plans: Trying to get Spencer to sleep. (Yes, he's STILL up. Oy.) And then maybe a little easter project or two! Oh, who am I kidding?! I'm going to bed too.

But before I go... a few photos from the cousins play date! Due to snow and sickness and holidays... this was the first time we actually got all four boys together... with no distractions, and where they could all play together. It was pure chaos and completely awesome. :)
