Random Musings...

{This is how summer break makes me feel...}

Here's what's pinging around in my head... in no particular order...

My last post was post #1,000 for this little old blog of mine. I immediately thought, "Wow, that's cool!" followed by "Man, I wish that wasn't what I blogged about."

{Trying to get the "group" family shot...}

Last week, we had family in town and this past weekend was the boys joint birthday party. Both events were amazing and wonderful... but I'm still struggling to catch up. Three days later. Surely, this is not because I'm getting older... right?!

I rented a lens for the party. It's one I would never, ever justify buying myself... but I'm finding it really, really hard to ship it back. Especially since I had no time to get the boys in front of it to see what it can really do. (Time—or motivation—if I'm honest.)

I have SO. MUCH. CLIENT. WORK. And all I want to do is knit and sew. (While my children quietly self-entertain themselves, of course. hahahahahahahahaha!)

Last month, I gave myself permission (for lack of a better word) to stop reading all the parenting books and self-help books in an effort to figure out how to tackle this transition. It was the best thing I could have done. Instead, I've been reading all sorts of novels and find the escape into a world of fiction way better for my soul. Got anything you've read and loved recently?! I'm currently reading "The Testing" series, which is a fabulous YA read... and I just finished "The Orphan Train," which I adored.

{All the pretty fabric... Now what to do?!}

I'm jonesing for a visit to my local yarn/fabric store. Actually, it's not so local... but it's well worth the journey. The last time I was there, we were in one of our darker spots with Milo and it was just he and I. When I walked in, it must have read on my face because all the employees (every one a Mama too) jumped into action and entertained and cajoled him while I wandered around ogling the fabrics and yarns. It was the first time in my life I bought fabric "just to have" instead of for a particular project. And now, I am hooked on this whole "stash" concept.

And in the same train of thought, I'm also pinning quilt patterns left and right. (Because one day... I will be a quilter.)

And while we are talking about hobbies I have no time for, I'm [thinking of] joining up on the Clickin' Moms Scavenger Hunt. It will be my first year participating, and I hope Spencer might help me search out some of the finds. I'm not looking to win, just looking for a way to fall in love with photography again. (You saw my last post. I don't have the most willing subjects right now.)

{A morning full of Frozen songs... need.more.coffee.}

And lastly, Spencer has been fully sucked into this "Frozen" obsession that seems to be sweeping the nation. Ohmyword. People, It's crazy. He has the karaoke app and sings with it all. day. long. And he is desperate for the Elsa costume. Desperate. (I thought we had compromised with an Elsa shirt... but no.) He wants fabric with Frozen on it so I can make him pajama pants. The only good thing is that he's equally obsessed with this video/cover of "Let it Go" on YouTube. It's beautiful and gorgeous and so very well done. I think it might be the inspiration for some Halloween costumes this year as well...

And on that note, I should probably get to work.

This post brought to you by bowls of Trix cereal and "Rescue Bots."  And, it was written hours ago... but guess who forgot to post?!
