New Year, New Goals, New Blog Bling

Well, it took me a whole week, but I have finally come up with my goals for the year. As opposed to the previous two years, this year my goals are more aspirational and ambiguous in nature. Hard to define exactly how I will achieve these, but I do have some ideas percolating in my head. It comes down to the "three c's" this year... 1. Be more connected. I've been feeling rather disconnected from a lot of people who matter to me recently. (And that is a sad and lonely place to be!) So, I've put the focus back on to reconnecting with them via text, email, and F@ceTime. I've also been putting the focus back into connecting with Spencer and Doug. I'm hoping to see friends who don't live near me more frequently. I'm trying to forge a few new friendships here. (Mostly with fellow TKD Mamas, cause at least I know I will see them on a regular basis.) I'm hoping to spend a little more time in forums that help me grow as an artist and a parent. I want to be more connected with myself. Which brings me to...

2. Be more creative. It's funny, since my job is to be creative... but there is a big difference in being creative for yourself and being creative for a client. I can't remember the last time I was truly creative, just to be creative. Yes, I take photographs. Yes, I cook new foods all the time. I knit. I sew. But not enough. Not enough doodling or painting or intentional photo shoots. Or craft projects for me. I think that I lack a sense of fulfillment some days because of this. Hopefully, by being more intentionally creative, I'll find a certain sense of peace and happiness. And no, I have no idea how to do this since I am utterly drained by the end of the day. Which brings me to...

3. Be calmer. It's no secret that Spencer can rile me up, and he knows exactly what buttons to push and how long to push them. There are days where it's 10am 8 am and I've already hit my limit. A lot of it has to do with parenting a spirited child while still trying to work. Some of it is just random life stuff. Part of it is the fact that every where you look, technology is beeping at us. Whatever it is, I want to be able to stop, take a deep breathe, calm down and re-assess the problem at hand. Rather than escalating it with bad reactions or negative thoughts.

And there you have it. Not too much to ask for, right?! I actually feel good about this list. All of them are goals that will significantly improve my life (I hope!) ... yet each one is attainable. I considered, briefly, making this list the "four c's" and adding in "Catch Up." but that felt more like a "to-do" item in comparison to the other three. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to attempt to catch up! Specifically on getting this house under control. Slaying the basement. Getting my photos under control. And getting my computer files organized like the Type-A, pre-kid person I used to be. Finally read and respond to those emails sitting, collecting dust in my inbox (sorry folks!). So while not a goal... it's on my list. Consider this your warning for Flashback Friday posts. I've never done them... but no time like the present, right?!

Speaking of blogging... you might notice that I have some sparkly blog bling over there on my sidebar. ---> (you want to look for the little icon with a paintbrush in it!)

In early November, I applied to blog for hellobee. I did it since I wanted to expand my "Mommy" community a little, while also improving my writing skills. I wasn't planning to apply, but ended up doing so on a little bit of whim, with some significant peer pressure from Grace. I'm so glad I did! It's brought new level of enjoyment to my blogging, and I feel like I may finally be finding my "voice." Something I have struggled with for a while now. For the most part, I'll either be cross-posting here, or doing monthly link-ups to my posts over there. But feel free to swing over there and check it out, I have a lot of awesome fellow bloggers!

If you want to see what I've been writing about in the past two months (since it has certainly been quiet on this blog!), here are some of my posts:

Why Korea?

The Roller Coaster

More Merry, Less Meal Prep

Go, Mama! Go!

Project 365

Chicken Tortilla Soup

If you want to see aaaalll my posts at hellobee, click here. (But some of them are coming here soon, so the above links pretty much cover it all!)

So there you have it. New Year. New Goals. New Blog Bling.

Happy New Year everyone!
