Easter

OK, OK... I realize that Easter was, like, a month ago... but hey, that's how I roll. Welcome to Easter, the completely commercial version. I was planning to skip Easter this year, as we did last year, because it felt weird to celebrate a holiday in only one aspect. We're not currently part of a church family, so it seemed inappropriate to celebrate with Easter baskets and egg hunts, when we weren't celebrating "the reason for the season." Enter school. Amazing how a roomful of toddlers can put sneaky little thoughts in my child's head. All of the sudden he was asking if he was going to color eggs/see the bunny/get chocolate and presents too. So I caved. I did all of those things with him. I mean, who wants their child to be the odd one out?! Not me. Next year, we'll hopefully have moved and have a church to attend... and then we can introduce the other [more important] side of the season. For now...

We did a lot of egg dying. Not only did we dye eggs at my parent's house, we dyed them here as well. (And I bought a bunch of kits on clearance... so don't expect this to be the end of it!)

FirstEggDye

{"Mama, what does 'stripped to my skivvies mean?!"}

FirstEggDye-3

{Watching Daddy intently.}

FirstEggDye-4

{"Hmm... this is taking a while."}

FirstEggDye-7

{"Bombs away!"}

FirstEggDye-8

{See the splash?!}

FirstEggDye-9

{Stirred, not shaken.}

FirstEggDye-12

{Waiting...}

FirstEggDye-13

{Checking...}

FirstEggDye-14

{Before we knew it, we had a whole collection of eggs!}

FirstEggDye-15

{And it was time to eat them! We watched how Daddy did it...}

FirstEggDye-16

{then cracked...}

FirstEggDye-17

{...peeled...}

FirstEggDye-18

{...very, very carefully. Spencer made sure every . single . piece . of shell was removed.}

FirstEggDye-19

{Next, chow down.}

FirstEggDye-20

{Realize you really, really like hard boiled eggs after all, except for the "ball" in the center.}

FirstEggDye-22

{Repeat.}

FirstEggDye-21

{Tell Mama you had fun.}

We also had the opportunity to see the Easter Bunny with my mom and sister:

And then Aunt Neen treated Spencer to his first Build*A*Bear experience. He loved the actual process of stuffing the bear, putting the heart in, and giving the bunny a bath. Especially the part with the bathtub. (No photos of the actual experience except for on the i*phone) He and Neen named his bunny "Peep" and he's quickly become a good friend:

PeepBunny

{"So Peep, did you hear there's a chocolate version of you at this holiday!?"}

PeepBunny-2

{"Mama, we're hangin' out!"}

Spencer also managed to wrangle four, yes FOUR, baskets this holiday. This is the first one he received, from Miss Lisa, my dad's colleague. It was his first basket ever, and it was a huge hit... Miss Lisa reads the blog, and made sure some of Spencer's favorite things made it in there.

LisaBasket

{Oh boy! A basket of candy?!}

LisaBasket-2

{"Belly Belly Beans Mama!"}

LisaBasket-3

{Oh forget this polite thing... let's see what's in here!}

LisaBasket-4

{"Did I get it all?!"}

**Thank you Miss Lisa! The basket was greatly appreciated by Spencer!**

We also heard the Easter Bunny left a basket at home for Spencer:

EasterBasket-2

{Searching for it...}

EasterBasket

{There it is!}

EasterBasket-3

{"Ooo... colored bubbles?! Awesome."} [Note: Not awesome. Messy. Very, very messy.]

EasterBasket-4

{And the big hit of the basket?! The Pez! I was honestly a little surprised.}

And, lastly, it's not Easter until you strut your bunny self around a little...
