Resetting Priorities

As you may have guessed from my Wordless Wednesday post, we hit up a playground yesterday. It was not planned, and honestly, the "schedule" I had in my mind didn't really allow for it. We were supposed to be doing some errands, but after two miserable stops I threw the schedule and my agenda out the window, and pulled into the nearest playground (which happened to be a new spot for us). I left everything but my kid, my phone, and my keys in the car. While Spencer explored the new digs, I reset my mentality and my expectations for the rest of the day. After a little while, I realized we were having fun... a lot of fun. Surprising given both our attitudes earlier. We didn't make it to the supermarket, and dinner was kind of a hodge-podge, and I had to re-do a load of laundry... but it was so worth it for the fabulous date in the park with my son. Sometimes, I get so caught up in the list of things I need to do, I lose sight of the fact that the world will not end if it doesn't get done. (I should know this since "mail boxes" has been transferred four weeks in a row now, along with many other items.)

Lesson learned: The "to-do list" will always be there, but I will never again have this exact moment in time with my son. Priorities, Christine, priorities.

{Setting the "wheel" in motion...}

{jumping on (yes, I almost died when he did this)...}

{enjoying (?) the ride...}

{adding a little thrill... jumping while spinning! Look at that mad air!}

{Big boy in a big swing.}

{Silly boy in a little swing.}

That is what I call time well spent.

{And, of course, a hug for the hippo before leaving.}
