The Broken Nose

Oh yes, it's really broken. I wish I were going for the dramatic and saying it was broken, when it really wasn't... but I'm pretty sure it is. I've had my nose broken several times in the past so I know what it sounds like, feels like, looks like. I'm doing a wait and see routine for the time being. I'd say the pain is down to "significant" (with the help of my friend Adv!l) from "practically debilitating" and the swelling/bruising is minimal at this point. So, we'll see... if it doesn't keep improving I'll head to an urgent care facility tomorrow. So, how did it happen?! It was simply a matter of my nose being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Spencer jumped up from a squat position just as I was leaning towards him. He came straight up into my nose, pushing the nasal bone straight back. The "crack" sound and the bring-you-to-your-knees pain that almost made me sick was a pretty good sign that it was a little more than the head bonks I've experienced in the past. I think he actually cracked or re-broke an old break due to the location of the pain. Luckily, Doug was here when it happened and could take over parenting duties. Unfortunately, Spencer was pretty upset by the whole thing as well...

Today we're trying to keep it low-key, luckily it's our scheduled "whatever it takes" day of the week!
