First, thanks to all for the sweet comments on Spencer's new 'do. I'm still adjusting to it. While I love it, I'm still coming to terms with the "big boy" look. It was kind of an impromptu decision, so maybe that's why I love-it-and-hate-it... no mental preparation. The stylist did a great job, especially considering he was on the move the whole entire cut. And everyone at the salon was impressed that there were no tears. (I think they had all placed their money on me.) * * * *
We've had a little growth spurt over here. A couple of weeks ago Spencer grew a half an inch, bringing him up to 28.5 inches. Then today when I weighed him, I found out that we have gained a pound and a half in the last two weeks!! We now weigh in at 20 lbs! YAY! For all of you who are about to tell me that we can flip our car seat around... don't. I looked it up and we can't flip it around until he's 22 lbs. So, rear facing we stay. (And I know about that whole debate with going as long as possible rear-facing, but he's like a frog in that seat right now.) Oh well. The good news is that we are finally starting to fit into those 12 month clothes!

We've also started to hold our own bottle. This is huge. He was doing it in Korea. We know, we saw. But as soon as he came home with us, we had to do it. Which is great from an attachment standpoint, but he still hasn't figured out straws or sippy cups, so it gets tedious to keep him hydrated. Now, he can get his own water and morning milk, and mama can have three seconds to herself. Amazing!

Roxy and Spencer have finally learned how to "play nice." OK - maybe not play, but they are much nicer to each other. In fact, this afternoon, Spencer brought his stuffed doggie over to Roxy and "kissed" her with it ("Mmmm-ah!" sound effect and all)!

And perhaps the biggest happening over here is that we've come a long way in the sleep department. And by "a long way," I mean leaps and bounds. (I realize I am totally jinxing myself...) Seven out of the past 8 nights we've gone 7-5:45-ish!!! WHOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The eighth night?! Oh boy. I'll be doing a more in-depth post on this over the weekend since we've fought long and hard to get here. But for now, now I'm celebrating. I freaking deserve it.

And lastly, not really a "happening" but something worthy of mentioning. A year ago, Spencer joined his foster family. He spent his first three months in the reception center and then the next six months with a wonderful family that we think of often, but especially this week. Ironically, I was planning wall colors for the nursery that is still not finished. (I just need to finish the quilt! Soooo close!
