The Lost Weekend

Warning: Whining Ahead. I feel like this was the weekend that wasn't. We had all sorts of wonderful things planned. And had to cancel them all. Why? In addition to the teething (which hasn't let up, and I actually think has gotten worse) both Doug and I were *sick* this weekend. Do you know how hard it is to deal with a screaming child in the middle of the night when your head feels like it's going to explode from congestion and your throat is so sore you can't swallow without cringing?! If so... how did you ever survive? I think there should be a rule that moms and dads can't get sick at the same time. Especially not when there's teething going on in the house. Just saying. (And single moms... I declare that you should never be allowed to get sick. Ever.)

So, needless to say, we're having a WIT (Whatever-It-Takes) Monday today. [Even though it's a holiday for some, it's not for us...] I'm trying not to feel sorry for myself, but it's really hard when you finally feel like you might be catching up/getting a game plan/learning how to cope... and the gods throw you another curve ball. (As someone who really needs her sleep in general, I can't even explain what it's like when I am sick. So to get 4.5 hours for the night... In 2 "chunks"... ugh...)

But, since I am trying to find the positive in every day now:

  • We survived. And we all still like each other. And, sick as we were, we made a pretty good team.
  • In addition to the two molars, I think we have an eye tooth or two trying to push through... which means that we only have four or five more to go until the 2 year molars? Right?!
  • We're not alone in this whole teething struggle...
  • I learned that my urgent care is pretty well prepared for the swine flu patients. Nice to know.
