... or not. I'm so bad at this concept.
Guess who slept through the night last night?! Well, that is if you consider 6 pm to 5:30 am through the night. (I do!)
And, the night before that?! Same. Thing. Tonight will be the true test... is it a new pattern, or just a fluke?!
It's been four weeks (only four weeks?! man, that feels longer!) since we hit rock bottom. The next day we started our new sleep program. Here's where I say
THANK YOU AMANDA!!!
Really, without Amanda pointing me in the right direction, we wouldn't be where we are today.
And where is that you ask?! Why, that would be sleeping from 6:00 pm until 5:30 am for the past two nights!! Um, yeah. We were just hoping to get it down to one wake-up a night and look at what happened...
Let's recap. Four weeks ago he was waking up every 45 minutes to an hour and a half, then screaming/crying/carrying on for *hours.* We were netting about 3-4 hours of sleep a night in teeny tiny chunks. He was getting maybe 6 hours of sleep per 24 hours. There were no naps to be had... at all. Once we started the program, almost immediately we found we could get him down for naps. (The first four or five days were absolutely horrendous, but so worth the pain in the long run.) Then we found that he would sleep for longer and longer "chunks" in the evening... we felt like we were finally getting somewhere.
Fast forward to last week. We were sleeping from @ 6:30 or 7:00 in the evening until 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning (ugh...painful) with two or three brief wake-ups a night. Meaning, he would wake up and not be able to get himself back to sleep, but we would get him back down within 15 minutes or so (not the hours that it previously took). Granted, plenty of room for improvement... but still so much better than where we were. And naps? We were loving the naps. An hour and a half or two hours twice a day. Wow!
Now, here we are. I don't know what happened, but the past two nights have been incredible. Through the night. Wow. I don't even need it to keep up (although that would be nice) I am just so happy to know it's possible. (I was seriously doubting all those reports we got of him being an "excellent sleeper") And we've still been getting some decent naps out of him!
So, I think I finally can say:
* Yes, it's a picture from yesterday, which technically doesn't count... but how cute is that?!
