(When this day started I thought I would get this posted well in advance of the Opening Ceremony, but my clients had other ideas!) Today starts the 2008 Olympics. I love the Olympics. I love it for it's athleticism, it's pageantry, and it's patriotism. This year we'll be cheering when two countries come into the stadium: USA and Korea!
In honor of the Opening Ceremony - some fun facts:
• There's 28 different sports being competed in.
• Fuwa is the name of the 2008 official mascots. You can find a picture of them here.
• The games are starting on the 8th day of the 8th month of the year 2008 in a country where 8 is considered to be the luckiest number.
• The stadium is referred to as the "bird's nest" because of it's unique appearance.
