Monkey Turns Four

Last month our neighbor turned four. Now, this little girl goes bananas for anything MONKEY. (pun intended) She literally cannot get enough of those little characters. Ironically, she's quite the monkey herself. I had created some monkey faces a while back for another project. I printed them off on my printer and gave the basic 8.5 x 11 sheet to her as a "by the way" thing. Talk about making her day! If I'm correct, it may still be hanging on her door. Who would have guessed?! So what better to give a little girlie girl, who can't get enough monkeys?! A shirt and skort set of course! Customized with one of my monkey images and some ribbon. I used iron-on transfer paper (for dark materials) printed it out on my inkjet and then ironed it on. Used some fabric glue for the ribbons and... Presto! One custom gift coming right up. I'm really happy with how it came up. In fact, I may version this into a unique baby shower gift idea.

Here's the complete outfit:

And another shirt:

And what better to package it up in but a pink plastic tote decorated with a foam monkey face?! I purchased the tote on sale for 99 cents at AC Moore. I also found the monkey "kit" there with all the pieces to create the face. I think that was also about $1-$2. Not bad, considering what gist bags cost these days! I used scrap ribbon to tie it together. And yes, she also got sponge balls!
