Today is Teacher's Day in South Korea, and it's a big deal! Dating back to 1963, it's marked by the giving of gifts or flowers to the teachers, but also with songs or speeches on occasion, as well as schools even closing or having a shorter day. It tends to be a festive day in the schools, and not only do current students pay respects to their teachers, former students stop in to give gifts and say thanks. Wow. Happy Teacher's Day!
