Drum roll, please....

As many of you know, one of the most challenging steps of the adoption process for us has been zeroing in on a country to apply to. It was not a decision that we took lightly, since one of our key roles as adoptive parents will be to give our child ongoing exposure to their country of origin. There were many countries that appealed to us in one way or another. Among the countries we looked closely at were China, Columbia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Russia, and Vietnam. The tricky part of casting such a wide net was that in addition to finding a country that we felt a connection with, we were also subject to the ever changing status of adoption placements in a given country. We are pleased to share with our friends and family that we have settled on a county to apply to, and that country is....Korea!

The factors that went into picking Korea are complicated and difficult to articulate. Ironically, after all of our deliberation, it in many ways came down to us both just agreeing that "this just feels like the right thing." Sometimes you have to just follow your instincts, I guess.

We look forward to sharing more details in the weeks and months to follow...
